About The Healing Cross Project
The Healing Cross Project provides direct financial and community-based support to individuals of all backgrounds and walks-of-life who are experiencing and overcoming significant suffering in their lives. Our mantra, and much like the Salvation Army, is “Doing the Most Good.” This connection is very appropriate, because the great grandmother (and middle namesake) of our inspiration Derrick, Myrtle Dean Clark, helped found the Salvation Army.
We are committed to living by the Golden Rule to treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves. This includes providing compassionate, caring support to people who are experiencing life-altering situations like mental or physical health crises, illnesses/diseases, addiction, and any other situation where grief and suffering are at their worst.
Through our charity functions and philanthropic endeavors, we have found that working toward the common good of others, including provding compassionate care for people in the throes of active grief and/or suffering, provides rewards that give life its own important meaning.
It also helps those suffering feel valued, respected and, in many cases, can help inspire them to find their own new leases on life where faith and service to others is concerned.
On behalf of our board of directors, sponsors, recipients and friends, we thank you for visiting the Healing Cross Project, and we hope you will help us to help others in whatever way you can.
A Message from the Courtney Family
On behalf of our family, including our son, brother and uncle Derrick Dean Courtney, we thank you for the generosity you have shown us during our time of grief, and for allowing us to in turn help others during their own times of suffering. Helen Keller said, “Faith, the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.” We live by faith! Please know that your your kindness has not gone unnoticed and we truly cherish you in our lives.
May God Bless You!
